What nonsense!
Based on our coaching and our own project experience, we say: yes, it is possible. Appreciation, respect, humanity and high performance, high focus, high energy – absolutely realistic.
In our experience, appreciation, respect and humanity are the basis for really high team performance. Only when everything is in place do teams perform particularly well in comparison.
What are the ingredients that managers and teams need to work on together?
➡️ A clear, common goal. Let’s call it a vision, a mission – or simply a “What exactly do we want to achieve?”. Achieving this is not easy. An announcement from above is not enough. It’s about a common goal. As a team. A common understanding at all levels.
➡️ Transparent and clear roles, clear decision-making structures, clear and functioning processes – all of this within the team, but also in the team’s environment, i.e. in interaction with support areas such as finance, marketing, HR, IT, etc. Finance, Marketing, HR, IT, etc.
➡️ Ability to deal with conflict and closeness, appreciation and clarity in relationships. A good, positive culture of conflict without a “toxic atmosphere”, without fear. Managers who care, who allow closeness – but who also set a clear framework, give feedback and manage conflicts in an appreciative and respectful manner.
➡️ Continuous learning in the team, open error culture, role models in the company and regular reflection on: what was good? What can we improve for ourselves, for the target, for our environment? Do we have role models? Who can we learn from?
As a manager, do you want to build such a so-called “high-performing team”? This requires mindfulness of the points mentioned above and continuous work, both on your own leadership and with the team. Building such teams is an exciting and value-creating process for us. We offer individual training, team support and coaching for this purpose.
