“The Art of Enduring Yourself” by Michael Bordt – a book on a great reading list by my trainer and mentor Heika Eidenschink.
I read this book 2 years ago and put it aside again. It seemed too simple, too superficial. I expected more advice, more concrete “tools” back then.
A few weeks ago, I picked it up again. And this time I was impressed and touched. The Jesuit Michael Bordt concentrates on the core elements of every personal development in a simple, understandable way without any religious reference. He deals with self-acceptance and self-love, with feelings, with fears, with central questions of life.
Bordt gives us simple, practical tips to help us better understand our feelings and emotional reactions(the “three questions”) and distinguishes between self-control and self-awareness. I address both topics in the two linked separate articles.
At only 95 pages, this is a small but very topical booklet. Worth reading. The ideas are the basis for individual, personal development. With or without coaching.
