Frustrated with your professional situation? What now?

Frustration is typical of life and a typical topic in coaching.

Here is an alienated but real coaching session to show what is important to us in coaching.

First, we looked at the frustration of our coachee himself. Behind the frustration, indeed the anger, was specifically the feeling of being treated unfairly and without appreciation. This in turn triggered quite fundamental emotional triggers: “You must not be important!” and “You must not belong!”.

The coachee has given space to these patterns, these existential fears, has allowed them, looked at them, accepted them and thereby gained a great deal of emotional autonomy.

Only then does our coachee return with us to the rational initial question: what now?

Our coachee then went through a wide range of options: staying, leaving. But also initially unthinkable ideas: a geographical change or a different role in terms of content, actively changing the situation.

In the end, our coachee decided …

… Is that important to you?

But the important thing for you is: if you have to make fundamental decisions in life, then take the following two steps:

  • Illuminate what lies behind your frustration and anger with self-care and appreciation. Take the time to go deeper. Otherwise – like the Amen in church – the next, same situation will come back.
  • Don’t just think about the solutions: leave or stay. Think of many other possibilities and paths. You can change, you can take a different view, you can dare to do crazy things (like me).
